Christopher Williams lives with  two gorgeous Jack Russell terriers in Canberra, the Capital of Australia.  An economist and senior public servant with the Australian Government, Chris has been an avid reader of novels since he first picked up a copy of Doctor No when he was twelve.

“I’ve always had a book on the go,” Chris says.  “I hate selling them or throwing them out, so our house tends to have books in every little corner.”

Brace For Impact – A Jake Walker Novel

This gripping thriller opens amidst a fierce battle between a crack Special Forces A-Team and the Taliban on a remote mountain side in eastern Afghanistan in 2002 and takes us to the present day, where a high level al Qaeda operative succeeds in planting an explosive device about the former US President’s GulfStream jet.  His motive, revenge for the murder of his family.

Over the Gulf of Panama, the bomb explodes at 41,000 feet in the baggage compartment of the jet.  Aboard the plane is the former President’s youngest daughter, Emily Parker, her protective security detail, Secret Service agents Karen Duffy and Pete Murray, as well as Jake Walker, a former Special Forces operative and recipient of the Medal of Honor.

From the mountain peaks of Afghanistan, to the streets of Iraq, this thriller also gives us an insight into the detective skills of the CIA, the shadowy world of al Qaeda and the ruthless region of northern Colombia.

Brace For Impact  is Chris’ first novel.  “I’ve had the idea of a plane crash and rescue story for some time now and I put the first 5,000 words to paper in November 2010.  I’ve always wanted to be an author and realized that if I spent less time reading, I’d have the time to write one.  Putting the concept down into a plan and characters was the hardest part, but it enabled me to keep plugging away at nights and on weekends until I had the makings of a great story.”

“ I am working on a sequel, Rendition… Jake’s trouble is only just beginning.”
