White Iris follows M, a young woman who quits her MFA program, leaves her fiancé, and sells all she has to move to the South of France and paint with an apparition of Vincent by her side. He leads her to dizzy highs and destructive lows as she faces one emotional and spiritual crisis after another in search of her own white iris. By following his journey, M begins to understand her own.
I’ve spent close to seven years of research in the creation of White Iris. I’ve painted 116 replicas of Van Gogh’s paintings, and viewed 412 Van Gogh paintings around the world. I am the founder of “Authentic Life Retreats” and offer art, writing, and creativity treks to the South of France.
Writing follows passion and one of my lifelong loves has been the letters and paintings of Vincent Van Gogh. To witness even one of his paintings thick with memories, heavy with melancholy—to read his words, his ability to straddle the human and the divine—that is what moves me.
