A widowed geologist, on assignment in Mexico’s lush Yucatan peninsula, brings along his handicapped teenage daughter, Patti, for a working vacation.  They plan to visit Mayan archaeological sites before her school starts the next month in Texas.  He has no idea the well he is digging meshes with a Mayan prophecy and an uprising is in its initial stages.  Nor does he know his daughter’s handicap makes her an ideal candidate for Mayan sacrifice.  Complicating matters, his drilling releases something deadly to the surface, something primitive yet intelligent, something he must defeat to save himself, his daughter, and the woman he loves.
