Promised Child

by Holly McClure

Promised Child was her biggest challenge as a writer. The idea for it came many years ago during a conversation with a Cajun man in New Orleans. He shared with her a story of his heritage as a descendant of Cathari ancestors, who having escaped the inquisition, migrated to Nova Scotia, then to the bayous of Louisiana. She’d never heard of this religious sect before, but he told her enough to make her want to know more, and to somehow work it into a book. After reading everything she could find, and traveling to Cathar Country in the South of France for inspiration, she began by asking a question: What if the bloodline legend is true? That led to other questions, like, if it’s true, and the descendants still survive, who were they and who would know about them? As the characters came to life, the book evolved into an international, end-times suspense thriller.
