Talk about “the other side of the coin”, most parenting books are so serious and unrealistic. Our off-spring did not come with instruction booklets. Robinson gives us a down-to-earth perspective of a situation each of us who have taken on procreation has encountered.

When the world is full rules on what you can and cannot do, here comes a book that tells it like it is for all those who think they have tried before and failed or who are about to take that step of faith into the unknown of marriage and/or childbirth/rearing. It is time to acknowledge that no one is perfect and there really isn’t a category for each person. Enjoy…

Robinson’s 25,000 word Too Bad About You: How to Raise Kids Worth a Damn is a quirky, modern-day, helpful, humorous way of looking at matrimony and raising children. This would make a great baby/bridal shower gift, quick read for the road or air trip, or even an amusing waiting room ice-breaker.

Robinson stands on neutral, yet natural ground when putting into words what mothers and fathers have been thinking for the past 50 years. A lot of things changed in the ‘60’s, and within those changes, children were born and raised differently than the generation before. So, when it came to those children growing up and having rug-rats of their own, the concepts of what was acceptable and the choices for everything from breastfeeding to what schools to send their precious off-spring, had changed. Validating what we have felt to be right to us but wrong to society, she claims common denominators for all no matter what race or culture.

Catherine Durkin Robinson could seriously be the next Erma Bombeck; taking every day experiences and making them acceptable to laugh at, as well as allowing us to relax and know we are not alone in this struggle to raise successful and adaptable children.
