Vic Waters
represented by Jeanie Pantelakis
Vic Waters grew up where he lives now having come full-circle. He, thinking he was going to be attending acting school, was sent to Benedictine Military School in Savannah by his mother who jabbed a bony little finger in his chest and said, “You need to learn how to act.” Upon completing high school Vic was off on a quest to ‘set the world on fire’ with music joining The Impacs which in ’66 merged with R & B group The Spinners of Roanoke Virginia to form Vic Waters and The Entertainers; playing with the likes of James Brown, Earth Wind and Fire, LaVern Baker, and Ray Stevens. After marrying and having two children, he decided they needed a home base and Crescent, Ga. was it. Although the traveling music business was pretty much gone, the music business was alive and well. Vic recorded three albums in Nashville that became local must haves. Songs about the coast and the diverse population that choose to live there are the fodder for most of his material.
In the literary sense, he has written two books: Flounder Creek Trailer Park and The Boys of Belleville both of which are collections of the columns he has written over the years for different magazines and newspapers. He also writes for The Darien News, The Glenville Sentinel, and The Coastal Courier on a weekly basis. www.vicwaters.com On his latest CD, he dedicated one song to Paula Dean, Chubby Chicks, and was duly rewarded with a big ‘Thank you!’ from the culinary queen.
Hogan’s Boat will have you laughing and taking notes.
”Loaded in thieving boat and drug smugglers, unconventional relationships that overcome major obstacles and the love friends can give that is sometimes better than family, it is suspenseful and humorous. You will connect with the voices and characters of this story.”
Billy Hogan is raising a daughter, but not alone. He has Charlie, an ex-con (who robbed a Pizza Hut once and realized it was a bad idea) who has become the “man mom” and a “do-whatever-you-need” for the three of them. Together they run the Big Mud Fish Camp in Darien, Georgia where not much ever goes on except fishing and killing mosquitoes. Then very expensive boats start disappearing without their trailers, “Columbians, Cubans, Mexicans, or whatever the hell they are” keep showing up at the oddest times, and a gravel tycoon named Ernest, who is as big around as he is tall, falls in love with Hogan’s family and the fish camp. Little does anyone know, the one thing that Billy needs to support his family, his boat, BETTY SPAGHETTI, is also what sets off a chain of events that will blow you out of the water.
Vic Waters’ book launch at Waterfront Wine Shop in Darien, Georgia March 29th.
